When I was in college, I heard a career counselor say that the average woman will change jobs nine times over the course of her career.

“Not me,” was my first thought. I wanted to be a teacher since I was in the second grade, and I was certain that my career would begin and end in the classroom.

Now, looking through the lens of retrospect, I think that counselor might have been right…

I did start out in the classroom. First I worked with third graders, then I moved up to fifth graders. I loved it. I still love it. I get all excited when stores start selling school supplies in the summer.

But now God’s taking me on a writing journey. It’s a change I didn’t see coming. But you know what? I love it, too.

It’s a reminder that God has good plans for those who trust in Him.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11
