Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today… Hebrews 3:13
I ran a 5K last weekend. That might not seem like much to some of you, but it was a big deal to me. I’m not in the habit of running 5K very often. Like maybe only once before when I was in college.
Now a 5K run is the equivalent of 3.1 miles. Let me tell ya, by the time I was 2 miles in with a mile left to go, I was feeling it. Every muscle shouted at me to walk. But then something amazing happened.
People – random people on the sidelines – started cheering me on.
You can do it.
You’re almost there.
It’s amazing how a little encouragement gave me the strength I needed to cross the finish line. I don’t think my cheerleaders realized how much I needed their words of support.
Fast forward to yesterday morning. I logged into my work email account and there was a message from my boss. Just a few short lines saying she appreciated the work I was doing. But oh, how it made the day seem instantly better.
So now I want to do the same for you. I may not know you except through the tenuous bonds of cyberspace. But I know that everyone benefits from encouragement.
My hope for you today is that you will feel strengthened to carry out your daily tasks. That you will feel loved and supported by those closest to you. But most of all, that you will feel the presence and peace of the One who created you.
Let’s talk: Have you ever been encouraged when you needed it most?
