Keeping an eye on eternity

My six-year-old daughter’s best friend was recently diagnosed with type-1 diabetes. As you can imagine, it was a devastating diagnosis for her whole family.

I was talking with the mom and she made the comment, “It’s hard to believe that her pancreas don’t work the way they should. It’s like something inside of her has died.”

Now that’s a sobering thought. But the reality is that each one of us is a little closer to dying each day. It brings to mind Paul’s words to the Corinthians:

Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16

The truth is, we were not made for this world. God created us to have fellowship with Him for eternity. This tiny sliver of time that we are given here will pale in comparison to the time spent with God in heaven.

So here’s my question to you today. How are you spending the time God’s given you?

Let’s talk: Have you ever experienced a wake-up call to remind you that life on earth is fleeting?
